Rooted in Pontiac – Born and raised in the city, Ravon has served her community with love and pride. One of her earliest roles in leadership was Class President for Pontiac High School. At the age of 17, she led a city-wide protest with 300 other students to advocate for resources and transitional guidance as the district suffered one of the largest budget cuts in history. She also helped to raise over $300k for the Pontiac Promise Zone Scholarship Fund. Her work as a teen was recognized and she was later named a Pontiac Leader in the Making by The Oakland Press. As a resident, graduate, and local business owner, she knows our city’s history, hopes, and hurdles.
Youth & Family Advocate – Ravon served as a Youth Counselor for the U.S. Marine Corps, guided Oakland County families through grief, trauma, homelessness, and addiction as a behavioral‑health professional, and has spent 10+ years working with children diagnosed with Autism. Today she designs enriching, engaging activities for residents at a leading addiction‑recovery facility, putting fresh‑start resources and practical life‑and‑vocational skills into people’s hands every day.
Creative & Cultural Catalyst – From hosting packed concerts and fashion shows to running the Love & Lyrics community open‑mic, Ravon knows how to connect the community. Her events amplify local talent and inspires city pride. She envisions the library as a vibrant cultural hub that consistently sparks curiosity and lifelong learning.
Community Connector & Resource Navigator – As the former Community Market Manager, Ravon facilitated Pontiac’s Farmers Market, linking families with healthy food, small businesses, and wellness services. She’s led bilingual business development workshops with nonprofits like Centro La Familia, ensuring Spanish-speaking residents receive vital access to resources and support.
Equity‑Focused Leader – Ravon centers inclusion in all she does, championing trauma‑informed programs, bilingual and learning disability resources. Regardless of age, language, or life experience—she makes you feel seen, safe, and empowered.
Small‑Business Champion – As a branding expert and business‑development coach, Ravon has helped many Pontiac entrepreneurs secure grants, build websites, and grow their ventures. She’ll use that know‑how to expand library support for start‑ups, job‑seekers, and career‑curious teens.
This work isn’t just professional—it’s personal.
I care deeply about this city, and I’m committed to showing up with intention, innovative strategies, creativity, and compassion.
Libraries are not just books...
they're bridges.
So let's all build together as we connect and thrive!
